Because of their dominance very few shooters would sign up for the Championship Shoot. The Trap Committee with the approval of the all shooters worked out the following procedure: 1. The Women Shooters would have a separate match. Each shooter would shoot three 25 target rounds for a total 75 targets. They then took there best two rounds, 50 targets, and that was official score. The shooter with the most hits out of 50 was the winner. The women shot from the 16 yard positions. 2. The men shooters with limited experience also shot from the 16 yard positions shooting the same number of targets and taking their number of hits out of 50 as their score. 3. The men shooters with lots of experience shot from the 22 yard position and again using their best two rounds as their as their score. The club championship winner was that shooter, including the Women, was that shooter who got the most hits out fifty. The Results--Women Champion--Esther Erickson--1st Runner Up--Jessica LaPointe --2nd Runner Up--Beth Anne Lundberg-- 3rd Runner Up--Tracy Hay --Club Champion--Dick Lundberg Note-All Women Shooters received a Trophy--- Esther Erickson received a belated second trophy for her Club Champion performance in 2006 Thanks to the Trap Committee for encouraging all interested shooters to participate. Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec (top) April 14th, 2008 Dear Fellow Sportsmen, Our monthly meeting was held on Monday, April 7 at 7:30PM. President Philip A. Madonia III opened the meeting with a moment of silence for deceased members of the armed forces, followed by the pledge of allegiance. A special discussion was held regarding the pros and cons of establishing a conservation restriction (CR) for the FSC property to protect our land from future commercial development in perpetuity. The discussion ended with a motion to allow the club to negotiate with the state to protect 800+ acres from any future development within a CR. The motion recorded is for the FSC to put 800+ acres into a conservation restriction, while allowing the FSC to use and maintain the property the way that it has always done so in perpetuity – subject to the approval of the Officers and Directors. A vote was held with 55 members in favor of the motion with 1 opposed. The wording of the CR will be approved by the Officers and Directors and presented to the membership. Reminder, don’t forget your Dues! Yours in Sportsmanship, George F. LeBlanc, Secretary Jan Feb Mar Apr May Jun Jul Aug Sep Oct Nov Dec (top) May 14th, 2007 Dear Fellow Sportsmen, Our regular monthly meeting was held on May 7th. President Phillip A. Madonia III welcomed all and opened the meeting at 7:35 PM with a moment of silence for deceased members and members of the Armed Forces fighting the War on Terrorism, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Our sympathies go out to families and friends of Richard Johnson and Ralph Fletcher who recently passed away. A motion was passed to dispense with the minutes, and Mr. James Wallace, Executive Director of Gun Owners’ Action League was introduced. Mr. Wallace explained the ramifications of proposed legislation. The Governor of Massachusetts has recommended that the State Police be empowered to conduct inspection of firearms owners’ residences and check if all guns are secure and registered. Violators could be charged criminally. A limit of one gun a month has also been proposed and there are many more issues being proposed that suggest that lawful gun owners are the problem – not the criminal! There are some good proposals, but only 5% of Massachusetts gun owners belong to G.O.A.L. This is sad, considering what is at stake. Mr. Wallace has filed a request for documentation to be provided under the Freedom of Information Act that supports the harsh measures being proposed. Please contact you State Senators and Representatives to let them know that lawful gun owners are not the problem. It’s the criminals. Refer to H3991, previously H3978. On May 17th, the Mass Division of Fisheries and Wildlife will conduct hearings on the Deer and Coyote seasons. New Member Applications: Welcome to new members Peter J. Grandito, Robert T. She suggested for anyone interested in being certified to contact Hunter education in Westminster 978-632-7648. Legislation – The Lt. Governor testified that the purpose of H3991 is to reduce the number of illegal guns by limiting legal sales. This is a one gun a month bill so if you are a collector and you wish to purchase more than one gun at the same time it will be forbidden. This must be opposed by respectfully contacting our elected officials. If this is passed, we as law abiding citizens will have no rights. Currently under chapter 180 & the Attorney Generals regulations - you are told what you can buy. Other states go by Federal Law - not our state! The Governors office has already admitted that there is no evidence to support the premise that we are buying guns and selling them to unlicensed/criminal elements. Please write the House Judiciary Committee to express your opposition to this "one gun a month" law. New Business - "Eyes on Owls" Kids Day to be hold on Sunday September 16th at 2 PM.
